Tit for tat story
An undergraduate student once asked a friend to lend him a certain
book which he wished to consult.
His friend, who was not very obliging, answered that he had no
objection to his friend’s using the book, but he would not allow it to be taken
out of his room.
Since the student could not convince his friend to change his mind, he
was greatly inconvenienced.
A few weeks later, his friend came round to his room asking to borrow
his broom. “ well, old friend,” said the undergraduate, “ you may use my broom
here in my room as much as you like, but I won’t have it taken elsewhere!”
